Digital Learning and Content Apprentice

Job description

As a Digital Learning and Content apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the world of digital learning and content creation while earning a Level 5 Digital Learning Designer qualification.

In this varied apprenticeship, you'll learn to transform complex information into engaging digital learning experiences. You'll be involved in every stage of the content development process - from initial concept and storyboarding through to final implementation and user testing.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Learning Platform Management

  • Assist with administering Jisc's online course platforms
  • Help set up virtual classrooms and manage course areas
  • Maintain platform design and accessibility best practices

Content Creation

  • Contribute to developing digital learning modules, videos, and interactive resources
  • Work with subject matter experts to transform complex information into user-friendly content
  • Use appropriate tools and software to create, code, and format digital learning materials

Digital Credentialing

  • Support the administration of Jisc's digital badging system
  • Collaborate on expanding the digital credentialing service

Innovation & Research

  • Assist with investigating new digital learning trends, tools, and methods
  • Experiment with emerging technologies, including AI-powered content creation

In addition, you'll provide administrative support for course scheduling and facilitation, help manage project timelines and conduct regular content reviews. You'll also collaborate closely with developers, subject matter experts, and trainers to ensure effective communication of content requirements and specifications.

Person requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • Solid foundation in basic IT concepts
  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • English and Maths at minimum Level 2
  • Eligibility for the Digital Learning Designer Level 5 Apprenticeship

Prior experience with digital tools, e-learning platforms, or multimedia software would be advantageous, but isn't essential. We're most interested in candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm for digital technology and a creative approach to problem-solving. Any familiarity with tools like Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, or AI platforms like ChatGPT would be highly valuable, though full training will be provided.
