Join our one-year programme and gain valuable experience working on key projects and programmes that shape how we connect the country.

What you’ll be doing

If you’re an aspiring project manager, our one-year programme allows you to get inside a variety of exciting projects through inspirational placements across the business.

Guided and mentored by project management specialists, you’ll explore our approach to project delivery and planning, financial and process control, and programme management.

Depending on your placement, you’ll learn about:

  • Our major, multi-million-pound investment programmes
  • How we project manage scheme delivery to maintain and improve our assets
  • Projects influencing road design, network occupancy and temporary works
  • Strategic projects focussed on customer experience and service delivery

You’ll gain valuable experience whilst helping to develop, plan and manage projects that deliver real impact in connecting the country.

What we are looking for

If you have the passion and dedication to succeed, you’ll be a great match for our programme. To be successful, you’ll have:

  • An enthusiastic, collaborative approach to working with others
  • The ability to communicate in different formats with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent co-ordination skills
  • The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
  • A focus on quality and integrity in everything you do
  • Currently studying in your second year of an undergraduate degree (in any subject) and expected to achieve at least a 2:2
  • To be eligible for a placement, you must be available to attend the two-day induction, 30 June – 1 July.

Due to the salary level of this placement, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don't have the Right to Work in the UK. Successful candidates will require Right to Work for the duration of the programme.
