On our three-year Civil Engineering graduate programme, you’ll build your knowledge and experience through a series of inspirational placements with National Highways and our supply chain.
You’ll mix study with real life work across a variety of exciting, complex projects and infrastructure renewal programmes on the strategic road network.
Guided and mentored by qualified engineers, you’ll take on projects and responsibilities that will help you achieve the professional attributes and experience for chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
You’ll get plenty of hands-on opportunities to apply your learning, use innovative engineering technologies and develop your skills in:

What we are looking for
If you have the passion and dedication to succeed, you’ll be a great match for our programme. To be successful, you’ll have:
- An enthusiastic, collaborative approach to working with others
- The ability to communicate in different formats with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
- A focus on quality and integrity in everything you do
- A 2:2 or above in civil engineering (accredited as a base for CEng learning) undergraduate degree plus a Master’s (accredited or approved by a professional institution) or an equivalent level of further learning.
- To be eligible for a place on the programme, you must be available to attend the 4-day induction, 8th -11th September
Due to the salary level of this role, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don't have the Right to Work in the UK. Successful candidates will require Right to Work for the duration of the programme.
