Product Engineering: Future Propulsion Systems Graduate Programme

Job description

JLR’s graduate programme is where your ambition meets automotive innovation. Learn from visionary industry experts, build your network and gain invaluable industry insight. Become integral to our future and build the exceptional career you deserve. Arrive with potential. Grow with freedom.

Your career starts here.

Product Engineering: Future Propulsion Systems Graduate Programme

Fossil fuels have dominated automotive propulsion since the introduction of cars, but our priorities are evolving as we move toward the future. Before the end of the decade Range Rover, Discovery and Defender brands will offer pure‑electric options, while Jaguar will be entirely electric - and you have the opportunity to be part of this journey.

As a Future Propulsion Systems graduate, you’ll learn what it takes to deliver the high-quality propulsion systems of the future. You’ll work in a range of different environments, using a mixture of engineering tools such as Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) in addition to data analysis techniques, while closely partnering customer groups.

You’ll take a systems view of the entire delivery landscape for commodities and systems, working closely with our programme managers, purchasing, manufacturing, external engineering service providers and Jaguar engineering to create and deliver final completed products to quality, cost and time targets. We’ll look to you for new ideas and fresh perspectives on everything we do – we want to be actively challenged in how we think and what we do.

During the two-year long programme, you’ll rotate through a variety of placements to help you develop your technical knowledge at either component or system level, touching on everything from design to the operation of fully electric propulsion systems. Along the way, you'll gain a full understanding of conceptualisation, design, development, optimisation and delivery for world-class components and systems. We’ll try to match your placement with your skill set and interests, and you’ll be supported by a mentor every step of the way

Below you can find out more about the teams that you could be working in. Which team you’re placed in will depend on your personal preferences and business needs.

Your development

Our graduate programme gives you access to some of the most forward-thinking experts, networking opportunities, and valuable insights from across the industry.

We’ll support your growth every step of the way, both personally and professionally, to help you reach your full potential. As a graduate, you’ll be part of a bespoke learning programme designed to develop essential business skills, including resilience, personal branding, and self-care. Plus, you’ll enjoy dedicated off-the-job learning time and the ongoing guidance, advice, and support of our Early Careers Delivery team, who will be with you throughout your journey.

During the programme, you’ll sharpen your creative and strategic thinking, develop leadership skills, and contribute to key business projects. By the time you finish, you’ll be ready to make an impact and play a vital role in shaping the future of JLR.

Rewards and benefits

Our 2025 graduate programme salary is £32,000, with a £2,000 joining bonus to welcome you to JLR. After two years, you will progress from the graduate programme on a £39,000 salary. In addition, JLR offer a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, excellent pension provisions and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from well-known retailers and sports clubs.

What we are looking for

To join the Product Engineering: Future Propulsion Systems Graduate Programme, you’ll need to hold or be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in mechanical or automotive engineering/design, systems CAD, chemistry, physics or computer science.

You should be a skilled problem-solver with a curiosity for understanding business challenges and a drive to deliver innovative solutions. Strong interpersonal skills, along with the confidence to champion new initiatives, are also essential.
