Entry requirements
Applicants should have at least a 2:1 honours degree, or a 2:2 honours degree plus evidence of wider experience in a UK school or foundation setting relevant to Primary education.
GCSEs:
GCSE English Language, Maths and a Science at Grade 4 (Grade C for those sitting their GCSE before 2017) or above, or an equivalent award including some equivalency tests, are required prior to the course start (Evidence should usually be provided by 1 September). Functional Skills and the Certificate in Adult Numeracy/Literacy are not accepted in place of GCSEs.

University-led

- Extensive placements organised by the university
- Placements will fit around your university lectures and seminars
School Direct
- Learn on the job in your provider school(s)
- Supported by experienced teachers and mentors
- Underpin your practical learning with university study
As part of this course, you’ll:
- Train to be a primary school teacher and teach children aged between five and 11 years
- Build your knowledge and teaching ability so that you can become a confident and inspiring practitioner
- Learn how to spark children's imaginations and learning
- Focus on developing your skill in teaching maths, English and science while you train across all primary stage National Curriculum subjects
- Explore established educational theories alongside new ideas, concepts and developments
- Enhance your studies and professional development with a range of practical teaching experiences
*Both routes lead to a PGCE with 60 master’s credits on successful completion. There will be three assignments across the year, each leading to 20 master’s level credits.
