An excellent way to qualify as a property lawyer, the SQA accredited CLC (Council for Licensed Conveyancers) Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice Level 4 is a flexible route for anyone. It is suitable for those who wish to advance their career in their conveyancing work as a paralegal, or as a first step to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer.
Career Prospects
Learners who complete their CLC/SQA Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice could become Conveyancing Technicians. Conveyancing Technicians manage small caseloads and support Licensed Conveyancers or other property staff.
Along with 6 months of work experience within conveyancing, someone who has completed the Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice can also apply to the CLC to be a Registered Conveyancing Technician.
Completing of the CLC/SQA Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice means a learner can move straight on to the CLC/SQA Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice and continue their journey to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer.

The CLC/SQA Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice consists of 5 units in total. These are listed below.

2. Law of Contract
3. Land Law
4. Standard Conveyancing Transactions
5. Understanding Account Procedures for Conveyancing Transactions
Exemptions and recognition of prior learning
Exemptions can be obtained through Law Training Centre for certain Level 4 units.
Exemptions based on partially completed foreign Law Degrees may also be available if the degree is awarded comes from a Commonwealth Nation.

Course Assessment
Each unit completes with an assessment. Units 1 – 4 are coursework-based assessment and the final unit, Understanding Accounting Procedures for Conveyancing Transactions, is assessed via examination.
Learners may choose when to sit their coursework or exams with 10 working days’ notice to us.
Exam assessments can be taken in the following two ways:
1. At the learner’s place of work if it is a firm that is regulated by the CLC, CILEx or the SRA
2. Online, remotely at a suitable location with appropriate technology available

Course Length
Each unit in the CLC/SQA Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice takes between 2 – 4 months to complete.
However, it is an entirely self-paced course and can be done at the learners’ own pace, whether that is quicker or slower than the average time listed above.
Learners who purchase the full CLC/SQA Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice have two years’ course access.
