Entry requirements
Entry to the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice is open to all learners and there are no formal entry requirements.
However, as it is a Level 3 qualification, it is recommended that learners who enrol on the CILEx Level 3 Diploma have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (including English Language or Literature) or equivalent.

Important Information
As part of the introduction of the CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ), Learners wishing to complete a Level 3 qualification must have registered as a CILEx Student Member by 31 May 2021.
Summary
Boost your legal career to the next level. Choose from 19 specialised units and build your qualification over 10 units. Learners can use this course to eventually become qualified lawyers through the CILEx route. While this route is aimed for lawyers, paralegals can stop at Level 3 and claim membership with CILEx as an Associate Member. There are several streams learners can focus on if they have a specific legal area, they want to specialise in. This course leads to the Level 6 CILEx qualification.
Career Prospects
Learners who complete their CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice can register for Associate Membership with CILEx (ACILEx).
With a CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice, a learner could become a Qualified Paralegal, Fee Earner or Case Worker
Course progression includes studying the CILEx Level 6 Higher Professional in Law and Practice, which leads on to a learner becoming a Qualified Lawyer through the CILEx route.
Exemptions and recognition of prior learning

Course Content
The CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice consists of 10 units in total.
Mandatory units
Unit 1: Introduction to Law and Practice
Unit 2: Contract Law
Unit 3: Criminal Law
Unit 4: Land Law
Unit 5: Law of Tort
Unit 16: Client Care Skills
Unit 17: Legal Research Skills
Elective units
A learner must also choose two Practice Units and one other Linked Law unit OR three Practice Units. You may find a full list of units here.
Course Assessment
Each unit completes with an assessment. For Law and Practice units, this takes the form of an end of unit exam hosted by CILEx in June and January. For the Skills units, the assessment is coursework based.

On average, a learner is expected to spend two years completing the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice.
