A fast-track course for LLB or GDL graduates, take your legal career to the next level and choose two legal practice units, along with Client Care Skills. This route is for those looking for an affordable alternative to the Solicitor or Barrister route into law.

Career Prospects

Learners who complete their CILEx Level 6 Graduate Fast Track Diploma can register for Graduate Membership with CILEx.

With a CILEx Level 6 Graduate Fast Track Diploma, a learner could become a Senior Paralegal Fee Earner or Case Worker. For further progression, see below.

Qualifying Employment to become a Chartered Legal Executive

With the additional requirement of Qualifying Employment, which consists of creating a work-based learning portfolio, a learner can become a Chartered Legal Executive and CILEx Fellow (FCILEx).

After completing three years of Qualifying Employment, including one year which must be completed as a Graduate Member of CILEx, a learner can apply to become a Chartered Legal Executive and/or an Authorised Practitioner.

Progress from this can include firm partnership, advocacy, and judicial roles.

Course Content

The CILEx Level 6 Graduate Fast Track Diploma consists of 3 units in total.

Mandatory units

Unit 22: Client Care Skills

Elective units

A learner must also choose a two Practice Units, one which must be linked to a Law unit studied in their degree. A full list of units is available here.

Course Assessment

Each unit completes with an assessment. For Practice units, this takes the form of an end of unit exam hosted by CILEx in June and January. For the Skills unit, the assessment is coursework based.

Course Length

On average, a learner is expected to spend one year completing the CILEx Level 6 Higher Professional Diploma in Law and Practice.

Learners have 18 months of course access to complete their course.
