Course content

This innovative MSc course, accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), provides an advanced understanding of mechanical engineering, with the aim of producing postgraduates who can overcome the new and exciting challenges of the subject, and encourage imaginative and creative innovation.

  • Develop advanced knowledge in mechanical sciences and engineering
  • Gain expertise in investigative modelling and computational strategies
  • Learn to apply finite element modelling techniques to complex engineering systems
  • Understand advanced solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and analytical techniques
  • Synthesize novel designs for a range of engineering applications

Information for international students

International Students will require approval from the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS). Its aim is to help stop the spread of knowledge and skills that could be used in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their means of delivery.

The ATAS is specifically designed to ensure that those applying for postgraduate study in certain sensitive subjects do not acquire knowledge that could potentially be used in WMD courses. Please see link for further info.
