Entry requirements

You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above.

Your qualification should be in a relevant science subject such as neuroscience, biochemistry, biology, bioengineering or psychology. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.

Course content

Neuroscientists investigate the mind and brain – from molecules to behaviour. Applications for their research range from medicine to artificial intelligence.

This course is ideal for you if you have a strong academic record in neuroscience or a closely related discipline and plan to move into a research career. With over 50 research groups on campus, Sussex Neuroscience is one of the largest and most interconnected neuroscience communities in the UK. Our areas of expertise include:

• sensory processing
• computational neuroscience
• psychobiology
• neurodegeneration.

You’ll be taught and supervised by research faculty across the Schools of Life Sciences, Psychology, Engineering and Informatics, and Brighton and Sussex Medical School. By studying with us you’ll deepen your knowledge, strengthen your laboratory experience and build your research skills.
