Course content
Medical education is at the core of healthcare provision the world over. Ensuring the future workforce is prepared to meet the challenges of modern healthcare means we need experts in medical education to help shape practice.
At the Centre for Medical Education, founded almost 50 years ago by world-renowned Professor Ronald Harden OBE, we help medical educators reach their goals, and ensure they're prepared to train the workforce of the future.
Our flagship medical education programme has three award levels: PG Certificate, PG Diploma, and Masters. All three awards can be studied by online distance learning, or face to face on campus.
The PG Certificates are accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME). If you want to take your knowledge and skills further then our PG Diploma and Masters are designed for current and future leaders in health education to build on the PG Certificate.
Our wide-ranging curriculum fits around you and your working life, whether you're new to teaching and training, or wish to advance existing skills and knowledge. The flexibility of the programme means you can take a break and re-join at the next level - either face to face or online.
Whatever level you decide to study, you'll start with two core modules which will give you a strong overview of the core concepts of medical education. You'll then choose from a range of optional modules to gain a qualification that fits you and your goals. For the Masters course, you will also complete a dissertation on a topic relevant to your needs and interests.
We also offer specialist part time distance learning PG Certificates for those teaching in anaesthetics, dentistry, general practice, oncology, radiology, simulation, and surgery.
