Developing a diverse child and adolescent workforce (CPD64)
Entry requirements
To apply for this course, you must:
- be currently working with children within a London borough (you may live outside a London borough but must work in one);
- have no degree level qualifications in any subject area;
- have an enhanced DBS clearance certificate (proof will be required);
- have your employer’s permission to attend the course and to carry out nursery observations.

Course content
This ten-week course has been developed and funded for London-based support workers who do not have a degree-level qualification.
Led by experienced NHS clinicians, this course is delivered over ten Monday afternoons, via lectures and small seminar groups. Participants will discuss the stages of child and adolescent emotional development, undertake a young child observation, and explore experiences of working in multicultural contexts.
Through this course, you will develop knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied to your current role – helping to boost your confidence and advance your career. Places on the course are fully funded by the NHS and can lead to further funded courses in the area of child psychotherapy.
