Course content
Learn from academic experts in the field of management, expanding your knowledge and developing practical skills essential for an impactful career in management or consultancy on this one-year master’s degree. This programme combines academic theory with the opportunity to undertake a practical consultancy project and build critical assets for your CV.
Successful organisations depend on managers who can make strategic decisions, communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders, and are capable of handling and analysing large volumes of information. To excel in these skills, professional managers require a broad understanding of business and strong interpersonal abilities that enable them to interact effectively with others and navigate complex situations.
Our MSc in Management is ideal if you have a non-business undergraduate degree and are looking to transition into a management career. Alternatively, if you have come from a business background, this programme is an excellent way to expand your management skills, deepen your understanding of the subject, and gain a recognised postgraduate qualification.
Explore some of today’s most pressing business challenges
From the start of studying with us you will explore key areas of business, including human resource management, operations management, marketing, finance, and information systems. In semester two, you will also be able to choose specific modules that match your areas of interest. In the summer, you will then take part in a consultancy project. This key feature of the programme offers our students the opportunity to apply their knowledge to practical problems, develop their analytical skills, and enhance employability prospects.
Throughout the programme there is a focus on current global issues and challenges, such as climate change and sustainability, ethics and inequities, different models of capitalism, and responsible leadership across areas like global supply chains and information management.
Graduate ready to put your skills into action
By the end of the programme, you will have a rigorous understanding of management knowledge along with the practical skills needed to address complex management issues, improve practice, and meet the challenges of today’s fast-paced business world. This combination of theory and practice helps our graduates to be fully prepared to put their knowledge and skills into action in the professional environment. There are also opportunities to build additional CV assets or micro-credentials, to help you stand out in the job market.
Gain practical experience through the Loughborough Consultancy Project
A key component of the MSc Management is the opportunity to participate in a consultancy project. These projects allow our students to apply theoretical and research led knowledge from their programme to real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, consultancy projects offer enhanced employability prospects by demonstrating practical expertise and workplace relevant experience to potential employers. Each project is structured to maximise networking opportunities and build confidence, helping our graduates to make purposeful progress towards achieving their career goals.
