Course content
Our course in Media, Communications & PR offers a stimulating programme with a unique blend of academic study, professional knowledge and skills development as well as opportunities for you to become a researcher in your own right.
We know that lives are busy, so we designed the course to be taught through a combination of intensive in person sessions, online interactive and self-directed teaching, as well as group and individual tutorials. Our programme will equip you with highly employable skills and advanced knowledge base to critically understand and navigate this environment both as an individual and in your professional roles.
This is most exciting time to study and interrogate media, communications and PR. The world is heavily mediated and digital communication intertwines all aspects of our lives. Never in history has the demand for media, communication and PR skills and knowledge been greater. Not surprisingly, the sectors play key social, cultural and economic roles both within the UK and on a global scale, and are important providers of employment. But these sectors are also characterised by fast-paced changes, to which individuals and organisations constantly need to adapt.
The course is taught by a team of experienced educators who have had professional careers in a related sector and/or are internationally recognised researchers in the field. A group of non-academic partners and advisors also contribute to the delivery of the programme, in the forms of visiting talks, debates and discussions, contributing to assignment briefs, and offering networking opportunities. These professionals have significant experience as media, communications or PR professionals. Students on the course receive automatic membership of the Public Relations and Communication Association (PRCA), which is a key industry body.
Our course is unique in that it is delivered alongside multiple degree routes in the broader Creative and Cultural Industries subject areas, which enables you to have a multi and interdisciplinary learning experience, and meet and collaborate with a range of creative professionals.
