Join our sought-after Apprentice Student Surveyor Trainee programme, you’ll develop an understanding of the commercial function within a project and be involved with project delivery in relation to cost profit and risk management. On successful completion of the programme, you’ll move into an Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.

Using the knowledge and skills you’ve learnt on the programme, you’ll:

  • Understand our won commercial processes, industry standards and governance.
  • Produce and analyse reports to ensure visibility of the financial status of projects.
  • Be involved safeguarding Wates’ contractual position in respect of the progress of works, design responsibilities and our legal obligations to sub-contractors.
  • Manage and prepare documentation, such as tender and contractual documentation.
  • Be involved in forecasting, risk assessment and the monitoring of cashflow, and help to build a bid winning strategy while identifying our customer’s key requirements.
  • Build effective working relations at all levels with key stakeholders, clients, wider teams and supply chains.

Eligibility

For the Trainee Apprentice route, you’ll have a keen interest in Quantity Surveying and need to have achieved grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). You will also need to have obtained / be working towards a minimum of 2 A-Levels at grade D or above, or equivalent (Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, T-Level etc.).

You’ll be based from a specific location but our projects are geographically widespread, so you will regularly be required to travel to projects across the Yorkshire region. Expenses will be fully funded by the company, but it’s important for you to be flexible and committed to travelling, as well as time away from home.
