About NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS)
The NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) offers you a fast track to becoming a non-clinical senior leader. In an organisation like no other in the world.
GMTS is an award-winning graduate scheme, with non-clinical placements available in NHS organisations across England.
Opportunities
We have six specialisms available:
- General Management
- Human Resources
- Finance
- Policy & Strategy
- Health Informatics
- Health Analysis
GMTS trainees make a difference to the NHS by improving patient care, developing better ways to use data, creating new strategies and much more.
Accelerate your development
GMTS gives endless opportunities for personal and professional growth, with benefits including:
- early leadership responsibility
- a comprehensive development programme of two years (2.5 years for Finance)
- postgraduate qualifications from leading universities
- on-the-job training, experience and support to gain specialist skills
- a competitive salary and employment package, including an NHS pension
Excellent support and networking opportunities
Our on-scheme support includes pastoral and placement managers and a trainee buddy. And, with 200 graduates joining GMTS each year and with over 450 trainees on scheme, you can build far-reaching networks.
On completing the Scheme, you’ll join our GMTS alumni network – benefiting from the support of GMTS graduates, including many high-profile NHS leaders, throughout your career. On average, trainees earn around £44,000 in their first NHS role after completing the Scheme.
It’s not who you are. It’s what you will become
We look for candidates with leadership potential and an ambition to make a difference. And encourage NHS colleagues to apply.
You need at least a 2:2 degree, but it’s not your degree subject, previous roles or the type of person you are that matters. It’s your potential to face challenges head-on. To inspire and effect powerful change.
