Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a medical degree which is recognised by the UK General Medical Council. Applicants will normally be required to be employed in either a clinical or research role within University Hospitals Southampton or other Trust affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine. Our part-time Doctor of Medicine degree programmes are aimed at students with a clinical background, who hold a medical qualification that is recognised by the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and are employed in a hospital or institution associated with Medicine at Southampton.
You will get the opportunity to study a project that is relevant to your clinical discipline whilst working with a wide variety of both clinical and non-clinical researchers. The University of Southampton is internationally recognised for its work in Life Sciences, of which Medicine plays a huge part. As part of our thriving postgraduate community, you will get the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from a variety of interdisciplinary areas, as well as the NHS or external funders, on research that is having a direct impact on society.
