Course content

Explore Marine Resource Management at a global top 100* university.

On this double award MSc in Global Marine Resource Management, you'll undertake cross-disciplinary study in a multinational setting, studying at both the University of Southampton and at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

You'll explore the relationship between marine resources and society, with a particular focus on sustainability, as you take a holistic approach to the study of the Earth's marine systems and processes.

In your first semester you'll study at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS), one of the world’s largest centres devoted to research and teaching in Earth and marine science and home to the University of Southampton’s School of Ocean and Earth Science.

The international nature of the master’s programme allows you to work alongside experts in the field who have varied perspectives, gain access to state-of-the-art facilities, and benefit from opportunities and learning environments in two distinctive global marine settings.

You'll have the opportunity to:

- Get hands-on training on board our research vessels as you explore the processes operating on marine ecosystems

- Build a highly competitive, cross-national skillset as you study in the UK and Hong Kong

- Learn to make scientific, evidence-based recommendations to the public, businesses, and governmental stakeholders.

Upon graduating, you’ll be prepared for a career within private entities, NGOs, and governmental agencies, and for further studies.
