Entry requirements

You need GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, and a degree with a 2:1 or above in any discipline.

As part of the application process, you must provide evidence of at least 800 hours of health and/or social care experience within the last five years.

For this programme, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requires an IELTS minimum overall score of 7.0, with at least 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in all other components.

Mental health nursing is both a demanding and rewarding career, and this programme equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to help individuals gain greater control over their mental health.

You will be prepared to work in various health and social care settings, promoting mental well-being and supporting those in need.

Philosophy: Grounded in a shared philosophy incorporating ethics, personalised care, and a safety model, the programme fosters professional behaviours such as connectedness, emotional intelligence, and creativity.

Interdisciplinary Learning: Collaborate with staff and clinical partners, supported by state-of-the-art clinical and simulation facilities. A coaching approach to personal tutoring aids your professional development.

Programme Structure

  • 50% Practical Experience: Gain experience in both hospital and community settings, including night shifts and weekends. International placements are available.
  • 50% Theoretical Learning: Participate in lectures, seminars, and simulated practice, with a strong emphasis on interprofessional learning.

Programme Requirements

Complete 2,300 hours of theoretical learning and 2,300 hours of practice to qualify for NMC registration.

You will:

  • Gain practical experience both on site and on placement
  • Work towards NMC registration
