Summer School: Politics in the City, London & Political Power
Entry requirements
Students are expected to have a minimum of 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
The application process is really simple. We need some basic information about you and what you currently study. We will also ask you to upload a copy of your current transcript and write a short personal statement about why you want to join us at Roehampton.
Once you have submitted your application, we aim to get back to you with a decision within seven days.
Please make sure you discuss your application with your home university or college so they can let you know if there are any additional procedures to follow on their side.

Course content
During each three-week session, you will take on intensive module. These modules will be worth 20 UK credits. In addition to your in-class sessions, most modules will incorporate field trips, offering you the chance to explore areas of London relevant to your studies.
You will live and learn on our beautiful parkland campus and have access to all the University's support services as well as a dedicated study abroad team.
On this module students will explore the politics of London, and its historical and current political culture. Through the module we will explore the broad themes and issues related to British Politics. To this end, it is a contemporary-focused course, that makes reference to our more recent political history. The module will examine the historic governance of London, covering the period from 2000 to the present day. This will include explanation of the multi-tiered and complex nature of London’s government, before moving on to considering what issues this provides with regards to the effective representation of the populace. Issues of the political use of space are also considered. Why has London become such a focal point for protests, riots, and demonstrations? How do art, architecture and politics interact in London? How do citizens directly engage in the political culture of the city? These questions and more will be actively discussed and debated during the course
