Course content
Life Sciences and Technology are an integral part of the global economy. The programme has been designed with input from major industry players to ensure that current skill gaps and emerging skill needs are being addressed.
Please note that this programme is suitable for intercalating medical students.
This programme will provide you with in-depth scientific knowledge of the subject and its application. It will equip you with a strong background in biology, statistical analyses, computing skills, and knowledge necessary to work in different areas of biotechnology. You will be taught by our internationally renowned scientists, in collaboration with internationally excellent Research Centres, including the University of Liverpool Computational Biology Facility, the newly established Centre for Metabolomics, the Centre for Proteomics, and the Centre for Genomic Research and the Materials Innovation Factory.
This programme provides you with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a professional scientist in your chosen area of biotechnology. It has been specifically designed to enhance students’ careers in different biotechnology sectors in a variety of research, product and technology development, and leadership roles.
If Biotechnology is your interest, upon successful completion of the MSc you may wish to continue with your education by studying for a PhD.

For those committed to a career as a research scientist, this programme will qualify you to be able to take up PhD studies or biotechnology posts in academia or in industry.
