Course content
This programme is an advanced MSc course in renewable energy engineering, with an emphasis on the design, analysis and implementation of renewable energy projects. Designed to help you develop critical understanding, the course will equip you with the engineering knowledge and practical skills necessary to develop and implement creative solutions to engineering problems encountered in renewable energy capture and conversion, system design and analysis, project development and implementation. You’ll use lab and field-testing facilities for measuring and monitoring performance of different renewable energy systems, such as wind turbines, photovoltaic power systems and heat pumps. You’ll also learn to use tools for component and system design, simulation of the performance and monitoring of renewable energy systems. These tools include Matlab/Simulink, GH WindFarmer and WAsP for wind farm design, PVsyst for photovoltaic system design and Labview for system monitoring. You’ll also have the option to experience a Professional/Work Placement in addition to the taught course.
