We will consider all applications with 2:2 (or international equivalent) or higher. In addition to degree classification we take into account other elements of the application such as supporting statement. References are optional, but can help build a stronger application if you fall below the 2:2 requirement or have non-traditional qualifications.

Course content
This programme explores the Islamic world’s history, literature, religion, philosophy, arts, and digital humanities, using interdisciplinary approaches to integrate its contributions into global humanities while promoting an appreciation of diversity. It is accessible to students without prior knowledge of Islam or additional language skills.
SOAS offers a top-tier environment for this study, ranked 1st in London and 9th in the UK for Middle Eastern and African Studies (Complete University Guide 2023). It also ranks highly for employability (6th, QS 2023) and research excellence, with its Modern Languages and Linguistics program achieving significant recognition in the REF 2021.
