Entry requirements
You should have a Bachelor’s honours degree, typically a 2:2 or above. Ideally, you should have an undergraduate degree in an engineering or physical science.
We also welcome applications from mature students and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications. Applicants with academic qualifications that do not meet the standard entry criteria may be considered if they have significant relevant work experience.

Course content
Our MSc in Sports Engineering has been designed with input from industry to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing global sports equipment market. You will develop the technical and transferable skills highly sought after by the sports equipment industry and academic research.
You will be taught by sports engineering academics and industrialists who have an extensive experience working within the sports equipment industry. This expertise is reflected in the teaching, ensuring the course content is focused on the most up-to-date industry trends and challenges.
Core study areas include product design engineering in sport, measurement and data analytics, research methods, the sports industry, innovation processes, sustainability in product design, human factors in product design, robotics in sport and a major project.
During the summer, you may be given the exciting opportunity of a micro-placement project. These placements are arranged in collaboration with our existing industrial partners and alumni contacts and aim to provide you with hands-on practical experience, working on appealing projects relevant to your MSc.
