Course content

Build your skills and confidence in the analytics and decision-making side of sport on our MSc Sport Analytics and Technologies, taught by Loughborough London’s leading academics and industry experts.

How can sports organisations use large data sets from sports performance, digital media and over-the-top streaming to make more informed business decisions? How can organisations harness new media to get the best insights – and what are the best ways to communicate those insights to non-technical stakeholders to get their buy-in?

On this master’s, you’ll gain hands-on experience of everything to do with analytics in the context of new technologies, with a particular emphasis on sector-specific dynamics and challenges. If you want to play your part in data-driven decision making across the business of sport, this is the programme for you.

Sharpen your analytics skills using real-world data

Analytics is highly practical, and this course is co-collaborative to reflect that. You’ll get to stretch and test your skills working on live data from partners like ai.io, Southampton F.C. and Signify – and be guided by their experts along the way.

Get to grips with Python, Tableau and other essential coding tools and software, while studying everything from strategy formulation and digital storytelling to digital markets and strategic sponsorship.

Based in the heart of London’s dynamic sport community, you’ll be in the ideal place to network and explore opportunities for your collaborative project and dissertation.

A headstart to your sport analytics career

This course is particularly relevant if you’ve got a head for data or tech and want to leapfrog into the sport industry. If you’re on a sport pathway, it’s also a smart way to pivot into the business side of the sector.

Building a robust mix of analytics and communication skills, you’ll be a strong candidate for roles in data analytics, business development, management or consultancy across the sport industry. Or you could pursue sport-focused roles in digital and media organisations.
