Postgraduate Taught
Our Postgraduate Taught courses are designed to make you stand out from the crowd. That’s why we offer you a wide range of flexibility and choice, to ensure that whatever you decide to study, you will achieve your goals with us.
All of our taught Masters degrees are underpinned by the research and expertise of our academic staff. With Hope you can choose from a range of disciplines, including a Master of Arts, a Master of Science and Master of Research, as well as a PGCE and PGDE.

Postgraduate Research
Many aspects of our research have been judged to be of world class standard and span across a range of disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, education, liberal arts, business and computer science.
We have over 150 students currently undertaking a PhD with us and each individual collaborates very closely with one of our academic staff members who are working at the frontiers of their subjects.

Latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) show that 98.1% of Liverpool Hope University graduates were in employment or further education six months after graduating in 2017. This places Liverpool Hope University second in the UK universities ranking and 1st in England.
All students at Liverpool Hope, and for three years after graduation, have access to the Careers and Employability service situated at Hope Park. This offers advice, information on placements and jobs as well as CV writing tips, interview guidance and general help in the transition from university to the world of work. Our Careers & Employability Team are on hand to support students into internships, on-campus jobs, part-time student work and graduate level work.

Our Health Sciences Building features specialist laboratory spaces dedicated to nutrition, genomics, cell biology and psychology, along with laboratories and space for sport and exercise science. The building houses:
- A 25-metre sprint track with force meters and motion capture for biomechanical analysis.
- A phlebotics lab for blood sampling, treadmills and BODPODs for physiological analysis
- A Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scanner for assessing bone and muscle health.
- There is also a double-height robotics suite and engineering lab.
- Psychology labs include motor control capture and vision and colour labs, as well as cognitive and neuro-behaviour suites.
- Nutrition labs with food analysis and testing facilities, two large bioscience and environmental science labs
- A suite of dedicated research labs for the study of molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, nutrition, molecular genetics, tissue culture and bioinformatics.
Students have access to a wide range of study environments and resources to meet the needs of your chosen course. The Sheppard-Worlock Library occupies over 4,000 square metres and contains a core print collection of more than 350,000 items, alongside a print journal archive and subject-specific collections. There has also been a substantial investment in full text online resources including e-journals, e-books and databases, most of which can be accessed both on and off campus.
Our Student Support and Well-being team provide an integrated one-stop shop for well-being support services, which means you don’t get passed around between departments. Services include everything from financial advice, access to counselling and mental well-being support, to careers and employability guidance. At Liverpool Hope, we offer academic support from both your academic subject tutors and personal academic support tutors based within each Faculty. We are committed to enabling equality of opportunity in education for students, and will take reasonable steps to meet both the general need for access and the specific requirements of individuals with additional support needs.
Fees, funding and costs
Tuition fees cover the cost of your postgraduate degree and are charged per year. Our postgraduate taught degrees tuition fees for Home/EU students range from £5,200 to £10,500. For international students our postgraduate taught courses are priced at £11,400, MRES courses are priced at £12,850 and our International MBA is priced at £12,400.
International scholarships
Postgraduate scholarships are available to internationals students.

English language support
Our postgraduate English Language Requirement is IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, speaking and listening. We accept a wide range of other qualifications which can be viewed on our English language requirements webpage. Please note that the English language requirements above are applicable to non-EU students who require a visa to study in the UK.
Location
Liverpool is a city like no other. From world-famous architecture and magnificent museums, to music legends revolutionising popular culture, Liverpool has always been a hub of creativity. Through spectacular festivals, dramatic sporting attractions and unique art, the city continues to be a gateway for UK culture, attracting millions of visitors every year. There is something for everyone in the city that has been voted one of Britain’s best travel destinations (Telegraph, 2018).
This year Liverpool was named the best place in Britain to live for young graduates by the Sunday Times. The reports explained how entrepreneurialism is active in Liverpool and that 3,735 start-ups were launched in 2017.
Accommodation
Our Aigburth Park Student Village is our residential campus for postgraduate students. Aigburth Park is approximately three miles from the city centre and Hope Park. The halls are set in private landscaped gardens and there is a wealth of shops, banks, bars and restaurants, plus a library located nearby. Liverpool’s most famous park, Sefton Park, is also in the immediate vicinity. There are regular buses into the city centre and to Hope Park, plus St Michael’s train station is close by.
St Michael’s at Aigburth Park provides four blocks of purpose-built accommodation. All rooms are single occupation and include internet access.

Smithdown Road, which is close by, has a huge variety of shops catered towards students. Many restaurants and shops can be found here, selling not only the standard amenities. From vinyl records to vegan food, it offers a wide variety of shops and products.
Culture in the city
Liverpool is buzzing with a culture that appeals to all ages and interests, Liverpool was recognised in 2008 and appointed the European capital of culture. The city has something for everyone, especially its 50,000 students.
There are four museums in the city and they’re all free. Liverpool’s art scene is extensive, with pop-up pieces appearing throughout the city all-year round. Liverpool’s Biennial Festival, which runs for 11 weeks each year, includes exhibitions and performance art pieces from contemporary artists. The city has lots of performances to offer through its seven theatres.
There are lots of beautiful parks and gardens that are free to explore. Not far from the Hope Park campus is Calderstones Park, while next to Aigburth Park campus is the beautiful Festival Gardens with Chinese and Japanese-inspired gardens. Sefton Park, a huge green space with a Palm House, is also close by.
Liverpool has a thriving nightlife with all tastes catered for. It is a vibrant student city and home to a huge selection of pubs, bars and night clubs, with most clubs and bars offering discounts to students throughout the week. From Concert Square in the centre of town, to the hipster Seel Street and the high-end clubs at the Albert Dock, there is something for everyone - all within easy reach and only a short taxi ride away from both campuses.
Liverpool is full of amazing places to eat, of course there are the typical chain restaurants you find in any city, but the best places to eat in Liverpool are the hidden, independent gems, some including Tiger Rock, Tavern and Crust are within easy reach of our campuses.
As the birthplace of the Beatles, Liverpool is famous for its music scene. Each year, the city hosts a range of eclectic events, including the renowned sound city festival, the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) and the Africa Oye festival which is the UK’s largest free celebration of African music and culture.
How to apply
Applications for most postgraduate taught courses must be made directly to the University. To apply you will need to complete our Postgraduate Application Form. Once you have completed it, you need to send the form via email, along with any supporting documents.
Students applying for a PGCE, PGDE or School Direct course would need to apply through UCAS Teacher Training.
For MA Social Work applications would need to be made through UCAS.
For Postgraduate Research degrees, applications should be made online through our website.
