Course content

Military performance is influenced and determined by a wide range of psychological factors. On this flexible online course, you’ll explore the latest understanding of these factors, and what can be done to maximise performance and the health of individual personnel.

Units include operational psychology and the strategies that enhance performance; the moral, legal and ethical challenges presented by military action; performance psychology; and leadership within performance-focused contexts. You’ll also learn about the psychology of pain, injury and recovery; and common mental health challenges faced in the military. You will undertake practical experience to put your knowledge into practice, and complete an in-depth dissertation on a topic of your choice.

As a student on this course, you’ll join a supportive online learning community, enabling you to network and engage with likeminded individuals wherever you’re located in the world. AECC’s performance-focused team will guide you through the course, which has been designed to give you maximum flexibility in fitting your studies around your life.

This course explores the psychological factors that both influence and determine performance in the military. Seeking to understand the diverse range of stressors and performance factors that impact upon military performance, health and wellbeing and crucially what can be done to maximise military performance and personnel availability.

The course draws upon contemporary research and best practice to explore the factors influencing both individual and team performance, and crucially how to go about maximising performance. Building upon the expertise of the AECC University performance-focused team you will be guided through this online course that is designed to give you maximum flexibility in completing your studies.

Please note to be accepted onto this course; you will also need to demonstrate that you meet the minimum standards of English. You’ll need a minimum IELTS (academic) overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each section.
