Course content

The MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will provide you with a deep understanding of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence techniques and the practical skills to implement data analytics using AI.

The rate at which we can create data is rapidly accelerating. Ranging from biomedical data to monitoring climate change, this sector has never been more important. The pace at which we produce data is rapidly outstripping our ability to analyse and use it. These enormous quantities of data hold the keys to success across many domains, and artificial intelligence can play a key role in understanding how this data can create positive change.

Why study MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

  • The MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will provide you with statistical, computational, and data analysis skills.
  • We’ll explore the exciting possibilities that artificial intelligence can have on the area of data science and analysis.
  • You’ll be grounded in the basics, learning the mathematical foundations of statistics, data mining and machine learning, and apply these to practical, real-world data.
  • You’ll gain the computational techniques needed to efficiently analyse very large rata sets.
  • You’ll apply Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning methods to a range of real-world data.
  • You’ll learn under the guidance of experts in health analytics, neuroscience, finance, business, and management.
  • This degree is interdisciplinary and you’ll benefit from the expertise of both the Department of Computing and Institute of Management Studies to learn skills in computer science, mathematics, economics, finance, business, and marketing.
  • We have strong links with industry, and you’ll regularly learn from guest speakers across the Data Science sector.
  • You’ll use industry-standard software such as Apache, Hadoop, R and Spark to analyse data from industries such as biomedical, financial, and social media.
  • Your learning will be put to the test with a final project in your area of specialist interest. You’ll carry out original research on real-world data.

Pathways

As well as MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, we offer a general Data Science pathway:

In collaboration with Goldsmiths Institute of Management Studies, you’ll learn the skills to become the next generation of data science experts in sectors ranging from healthcare to business.
