Entry requirements

This degree is designed for graduates who are new to artificial intelligence. Due to the course's strong quantitative elements, a second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) in business, finance, economics, management science, logistics, engineering, computing or mathematics is required.

Applicants from other degrees may be considered on a case-by-case basis provided they can show strong quantitative ability.

We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on judgement of academic potential.

What you will learn

This course has been developed to provide you with foundational knowledge and skills relating to AI theories and technologies with core modules covering AI concepts, applied AI technologies for decision making, and AI ethics.

You will explore how advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping the world of work and what organisations need to do to make a success of these changes. You will learn how to apply AI technologies such as machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing to create value in organisations.

How you will learn

This course is available to study full- or part-time. It has both a daytime and evening timetable. This means you can choose whether you want to attend classes in the daytime or evening, so they fit around any other commitments you have.

You will be taught in seminars and lectures. You will also take part in lab-based sessions in which you will enhance your knowledge, skills and understanding of artificial intelligence techniques in modelling, data analytics, simulation and other AI exercises using freely available datasets and tools such as Python, Excel, SPSS and Tableau.

Information for international students

If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
