Job description

We are a premier summer camp nestled in the Berkshires, offering a wide range of activities that inspire adventure, creativity, and personal growth. Our camp is known for its engaging water-based programs, including swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and more. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers, and our lifeguards play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in and around the water.

Job functions

  • Monitor all water activities, including swimming, boating, and waterfront events, ensuring camper and staff safety at all times.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of camp participants in the water, using your training to recognize and respond to potential emergencies quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the swimming area
  • Assist in planning and leading water-based activities such as swimming lessons, water games, and other aquatic programs.
  • Work closely with other lifeguards, counsellors, and camp staff to ensure a coordinated approach to camper safety and activity management.
  • Adhere to all camp and regulatory safety standards, participating in regular drills and training sessions to stay prepared for any situation.

What we are looking for

  • Must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience as a lifeguard
  • Energetic, compassionate, patient, and adaptable with a genuine passion for working with youth.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to perform rescues and carry equipment
  • 18-30
  • Childcare experience
  • No criminal record
  • At least 18 by 1 June the year of travel
  • Available from June-August
