You could be attending a crime scene, analysing evidence, interviewing offenders and victims or managing an investigation. Every day is different, but what you do every day will make an impact, kickstarting a rewarding career as a detective, protecting the public and bringing offenders to justice.

Your starting salary will be £29,907 and, within 7 years you could be earning up to £48,231 as a detective constable. After completing your initial training, you will work alongside experienced officers and spend time in CID teams, experiencing life as a detective at TeamNP.

The two-year Graduate Detective Programme (GDP) gives you the opportunity to develop your leadership and problem-solving abilities, equipping you with the skills needed to handle modern detective and investigative work and handle real-life policing situations with confidence.

This pathway is open to graduates from any academic background or students in their final year of degree studies.

What we are looking for

Whilst we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, there are some eligibility conditions that must be met, including:

  • Hold level 2 qualifications in both English and Maths
  • Hold a full, UK manual driving licence
  • Be a British citizen or resident in the UK free of restrictions
