Regulatory Compliance Officer - Apprenticeship

Job description

Enjoy a varied role, helping to make sure consumers and businesses can confidently buy and sell safe products, while studying for a recognised qualification.

As Regulatory Compliance Officer, you will be a key member of the OPSS Enforcement Team. We make sure that businesses follow and comply with a range of regulations. We have a variety of teams with different specialisms – from ensuring products are safe, to protecting the environment, making sure businesses have the information and support they need, and taking enforcement action when it’s necessary.

You will enjoy the opportunity to work on three different teams. This means you can expect to gain a range of skills and experience, including: advising and supporting businesses, checking products for compliance and risk, supporting enforcement cases, working with businesses to solve problems, writing reports, and exploring ways to increase our impact.

Your apprenticeship

Apprentices are our future enforcement officers and leaders. Your journey will begin by studying for a Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer qualification alongside your job role. This is equivalent to the first year of a university degree.

About you

You might be at the start of your career or you may be an experienced professional looking for a new path. You must be aged 16 or over, not in full-time education and not in receipt of funding for any other learning programme, such as an apprenticeship or degree. You should not hold a qualification in, or have substantially studied regulatory compliance – but you should be able to demonstrate your interest in building a career in regulation.

We expect you to be naturally curious, a confident communicator and a team player. You are comfortable getting to grips with complex technical information and working to deadlines. A keen eye for detail and the ability to think creatively will also be essential.

The benefits

Alongside your salary and apprenticeship, you will have the advantage of the Civil Service pension.
