Job description
90% of schools use CGP books, making us the UK’s No.1 educational publisher. We’re successful because we’re flexible and quick to market with new products, and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Product Developer to join us at our Lake District Head Office. You’ll use your research skills to identify opportunities for fabulous new print and digital products, cost up your ideas and present sound business proposals to senior colleagues. You’ll then bring your product to life with the help of our in-house Editing, Digital and Design teams.
To thrive as a Product Developer, you’ll be a graduate with an impressive academic background and a sound track record in research — this could be a PhD, Masters or from your experience in a relevant role (not necessarily publishing). You’ll have a curious and creative mind, and the ability to analyse complex data to great commercial effect. You’ll be joining a small team so there’s plenty of opportunity to make your mark right from the start.
What we are looking for
To be considered, you’ll need to be:
- Highly numerate and commercially aware – able to evaluate options quickly by simplifying or estimating key figures
- Confident interrogating complex (and often incomplete) data sets to uncover trends — great Excel skills are a must
- Creative — with ideas that you can articulate clearly
- Open-minded, curious and keen to learn (able to ask the right questions)
- Independent, and a self-starter with the confidence to pursue your own ideas
- A great communicator – verbally and in writing
- An excellent listener – able to take on feedback from colleagues, teachers and pupils
- Flexible – whatever your background, you’ll be comfortable working across all subject areas and age groups within the education system
Ideally, you’ll be able to drive as the role will at times require travel to other sites and to local schools.
Accepted degree subjects
