Course content

This is a programme that will attract those employed and working with children aged 0-19 years: employed in the maintained sector: primary, secondary and special schools and within wider children’s services. This programme will support the progression needs of local authority employees from specialist areas who have an education remit as part of their employment: area inclusion officers, consultant teachers and those working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disability. This programme will also support qualified teachers embarking on a Masters level of study.

This course is also available via distance learning mode of delivery.

An interesting suite of modules supports and underpins experiential learning and offers exciting opportunities for personal and professional development. The programme will provide a broad base of topic areas that will enable students to develop their ability to critically reflect and evaluate their own practice from an informed professional perspective. The programme will be offered generically across all age ranges but students will be able to specialise according to their employment sector.

This element of specialism is important in providing students with a qualification than has creditability and application to their sector and enhances further careers. Students will undertake a programme of study that focuses on and identifies current influences that are shaping policy and practice and informing teaching and learning locally.
