PhD: The normal minimum entrance requirement is an upper second class honours degree or master's degree, relevant to the proposed area of study, from a recognised higher education institution in the UK. You should also have experience of academic research in the previous four years, normally in the form of either a master's degree in research methods, an undergraduate degree with a research element in the final year, or work-related experience with evidence through research reports. Course description
The Physics Applied to Medicine Research Group at the OU brings together researchers from across the Department of Physics and Astronomy and has an emphasis on interdisciplinary and multi-centre research leading to new developments in medical diagnosis or treatment. The group is a member of the recently established Biomedical Research Network, bringing together researchers from across the Faculty of Science. The group contains both established and career-early researchers and its activities fall into several subject areas:

- Functional imaging.
- Inverse problems.
- Radiation damage.
- Neuroscience and education.
- Statistical physics in biology and medicine
